About your osteopath
Why I became an Osteopath
One day, after going for a run, I developed pain in my back, so Googled ‘treatment for back ache’. A local Osteopath’s website came up; I had no idea what osteopathy was, but thought I’d give it a try.
I had my appointment, and was so impressed with the improvement, and with what had been achieved using just their hands - and without medicines, painkillers, or complicated equipment - that I decided to become an Osteopath myself.
Training and qualifications
I graduated from the College of Osteopathy with a Bachelor of Osteopathy first class honours degree (BOst).
I frequently attend training courses to update my skills and acquire new ones; including treating Coccyx Pain, new treatments for Frozen Shoulder, and training courses with the Sutherland College of Cranial Osteopathy. Osteopaths are required to complete further training courses throughout our career, and I love learning more about how the body works, and how we can combine different treatment techniques to get the best possible outcomes for our patients.
My first degree was in Biomedical Sciences, and later I went on to qualify as a teacher and spent 12 years teaching high-school Science and Biology A level. I still love teaching and learning, so be warned - I may come across as a bit of a Biology Nerd, and will certainly be sharing information with you on how your body and the treatments work. Please feel free to stop listening if it gets too boring!
